A useful deadline is context, not automation. The organizer still decides when the group is complete, while each participant keeps authority over their own current response.

Use receipts for corrections

When a participant changes from M to L, their receipt updates the same response. The M count decreases and the L count increases; the manager does not guess which message supersedes another or edit on someone’s behalf.

Close before transferring the tally

Once the expected people have answered or the agreed moment arrives, close the collection. Results remain readable, but submissions, corrections, and withdrawals pause, giving you a stable count to enter in the vendor’s order.

Reopen deliberately when needed

If a real correction arrives before the external order is final, reopen the collection, let the receipt holder change their answer, and close again. Existing links stay valid; rotating the response link is reserved for stopping an accidentally shared intake link.
